The route
From the Airport to the Boat
Three legs, and the last one is by water. A houseboat has no road address, so the handover at the ghat is the part worth arranging properly.

Srinagar airport to the lakeside
A driver holding your name at arrivals, then through the city to the lake. We send you his number and the vehicle details before you fly.

At the ghat
The numbered landing steps on the lakeside. The boatman for your houseboat is waiting; we send the ghat number and a map pin in advance so the driver goes to the right one.

The shikara crossing
Luggage into the boat with you and across the water to the houseboat. Which mooring you are going to decides how long the crossing is.

Arrival on board
The owner meets you on the front deck. Tea usually arrives before the bags are off the shikara.

Pickup on arrival
A driver at arrivals with your name, briefed on which ghat he is taking you to. Send us the flight and we track it rather than guessing.
Luggage on the shikara
The boatman and the driver handle the bags at the landing steps. Everything crosses with you in one trip.
Numbers before you fly
The driver's number, the boatman's number and a map pin for the ghat, sent in writing so you are not relying on finding signal on landing.
Late arrivals
Told to the owner in advance so the boat is expecting you. The lake is dark and quiet late in the evening; an expected arrival is a calm one.
The return leg
The crossing back and the drive to the airport on your last morning, timed against your flight rather than against checkout.

Adding a Transfer to a Houseboat Booking
The simplest way to arrange a transfer is in the same message as your houseboat dates. We are already speaking to the owner about your room, so the ghat, the boatman and the driver are all set up together and quoted in the same written reply. Ask for it separately and it still works — it is just one more exchange.

Questions About Airport Transfers
Will the driver be waiting when we land?
Yes, if you send us your flight and arrival time. The driver waits at arrivals with your name and calls you if the flight moves. We send you his number and the vehicle before you fly, so nobody is looking for a stranger in a car park.
Who carries the luggage onto the shikara?
The boatman for your houseboat, with the driver helping at the landing steps. Bags go into the shikara with you rather than following separately — there is only one crossing and everything comes on it.
Can you handle a late-night arrival?
Usually yes, if we know in advance. The ghats are dark and quiet late in the evening, so an arranged pickup and a boatman who is expecting you makes a real difference. Tell us the flight and we will confirm it with the owner.
What does an airport transfer cost?
Rates on request. It depends on the vehicle, the number of passengers and the ghat you are going to, and we confirm it before you travel. Ask for it in the same message as your houseboat dates and we will quote both together.
